Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers #1) by Tara Sivec

From Goodreads: -

Claire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he's asleep) toddler a better life.

When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time.

With Carter's undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire's panic that her stretch marks and slim to none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.

Warning: contains explicit sex, profanity and enough sarcasm to choke a horse.

This book is hilarious. While some people may think it's too much or ridiculous, it's all depends how you see it. Sometimes I think can a person has so many embarrassing moments? Anyway it's just a fiction after all. And I kind of enjoy reading it.

When I first started reading, I was like, what kind of person is this Claire? But then soon she got my respect. A person who swear not to have any child, who determine not to give birth to any child since young, would accept having a baby after a one night stand, where she did not even know who the father is. She did go try to search the father of the child. But without the name it's hard and she did not manage to find him. And yet she did not give up on the baby. I think not anyone can do that. Her best friend, Liz, was a jewel. A friend that hard to get.

While Claire could not forget the father of her child, as she was looking at his eyes every day from her son. On the other hand, Carter also could not forget this woman who he had one night stand with for the whole 5 years. While he did not know her name, too wasted on that night to remember her face, but he definitely remember her unique chocolate scent. He even went to search high and low on her after that night. So in actual, both of them were looking high and low for each other, but seems like fate had them missed each other until 5 years later. Their son, Gavin was a cheeky little boy. You would never get bored with him around. Hahahaha. I was laughing out loud especially reading the part where Carter was getting 'poop' talk from one of the father that he met at the library, and how Carter got panic after that. That was epic! My another favorite scene was when Carter met Gavin for the very first time, at Claire's shop.

Seduction and Snacks is a hilarious and yet a sweet romance. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Easy by Tammara Webber

From Goodreads: -

Rescued by a stranger.
Haunted by a secret
Sometimes, love isn’t easy…

The attraction between them was undeniable. Yet the past he’d worked so hard to overcome, and the future she’d put so much faith in, threatened to tear them apart.

Only together could they fight the pain and guilt, face the truth—and find the unexpected power of love.

A groundbreaking novel in the New Adult genre, Easy faces one girl's struggle to regain the trust she's lost, find the inner strength to fight back against an attacker, and accept the peace she finds in the arms of a secretive boy.

I came across this book randomly from a book review website and decided to give it a try. And I love it! I'm really glad that I did not give this book a miss. It's beautifully written. I just can't put it down!

The storyline and the characters are well developed. I love to see how the heroine grow throughout the whole story. From hiding behind as a victim closed to being raped, to bravely stand out to do the right thing to report to the authority, the author has done a good job in showing how the victim, the family and the community reacts in such sensitive issue. On top of that, the author did a very good job on the plot, and the development of the characters. Lucas, appeared mysterious and complicated at the beginning. But as I read more and more about him, he had my full respect. He's not only smart, but he's hardworking and independent. And he knew what's the right thing to do. I like the way he treated Jacqueline, how he won her heart, slowly and naturally. I was immersed to the story right from the beginning. There were several parts that I just could not hold back my tears. This book was simply amazing.

I enjoy reading this book very much. It is one of my favorite. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare

From Goodreads: -

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

I find the story is quite interesting. However I feel the pace is rather slow. There are lots of actions throughout the whole book. I admire Clary's courage. She did not show any fear after knowing about her mom and her true identity. Instead, she embraces the upcoming challenges with open heart and courage. I salute her for that. And I'm glad that she's not alone in her journey. Besides the main characters, I find the other supporting characters are equally shinning in the story. And they all play an important role throughout Clary's adventures in the Shadowhunter world. The ending is a little out of my expectation. And made me can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Overall it's quite a good read. I rate it 3 out of 5 stars.

The Betrayal (Precinct 11 #2) by Jerry B. Jenkins

From Goodreads: -

Detective Boone Drake has just masterminded the most massive sting in Chicago history, bringing down the heads of not only the biggest street gangs in the city but also the old crime syndicate. The story is the biggest in decades, and the Chicago Police Department must protect the key witness at all costs. Despite top secret plans to transfer the witness ahead of his testimony before the grand jury, an attempt is made on his life. And the person suspected of leaking this information may be one of the CPD's own.

The Betrayal by Jerry B. Jenkins is the second book in the Precinct 11 series. The story picks up from where The Brotherhood ends. I enjoy reading first book The Brotherhood a lot. And I was looking forward on reading this book 2. Honestly, Jerry Jenkins did not disappoint me at all. The 2nd book of this series is full of suspense. The plot was exciting and full of mystery. Similar to book 1, The Betrayal is full of actions. I just could not stop turning the pages. Besides searching who is the betrayal, the story also continue on Boone's relationship with God, and his new relationship after his wife and son have died. Boone is tough, smart and brave. I enjoy reading how he keeps cool and act accordingly when they are in danger. Boone also has an amazing relationship with his boss Jack. I think it's the greatest thing he ever has.

Overall I enjoy reading this book very much. Good story, good writing style. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Relentless Pursuit (Private Protectors #4) by Adrienne Giordano

From Goodreads: -

You call this a mission?

Yeah, ex-Army Ranger and Taylor Securities operative Billy Tripp screwed up. So instead of being assigned to a dangerous international mission, he’s sent to babysit a pricey necklace at a trendy South Beach hotel. The only bright side to the assignment is working with the manager, smoking-hot hotel heiress Kristen Dante.

Kristen’s worked hard to build her father’s Miami hotel into a jet-set destination. She’s confident in business but not so much with men. What could a sexy guy like Billy want with her when he could have someone like her beautiful, party-girl sister?

There’s a reason Billy’s known as Mr. Relentless. He doesn’t give up. Not on a job, or on the woman he wants. So when three luxury cars go missing from the hotel’s lot, Billy sets out to find the thief. Suddenly, he has a case with the risks he thrives on. But when his investigation leads to Kristen being threatened, the real danger is losing his heart.

The storyline is simple and fast pace. Making me reading the whole book at one sitting. I always like strong hero. Billy is hot and sexy, and strong. He may not good at talking, but I like his honestly. And the way he respects Kristen. Making Kristen to change from a person who has no confident on her body, to a person who believe she's beautiful and sexy too. I like how Billy approaches Kristen and how he wins her heart. They are perfect match for each other.

I enjoy reading this book very much. I like how the story is being developed. I definitely would look out for other books in this series.

I rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
