Twilight Fulfilled by Maggie Shayne

Title:         Twilight Fulfilled
Publisher:  Harlequin
Imprint:     MIRA Books
Pub Date:  09/27/2011
ISBN:       9780778312673
Author:      Maggie Shayne

When I saw this book is available in Net Galley I was so happy and can't help to request it right away. After reading Twilight Prophecy, I was very much looking forward to read the sequel. And this book 2 Twilight Fulfilled, does not disappoint me at all. Instead it is better than the first book.

While the first book was more about James, this book two was on his twin sister, Brigit. James used his healing power to revive Utanapishtim from his ashes. But then the soon after that they realized it's a mistake to revive him. So the vampire race sent Brigit, the destroyer, to destroy Utanapishtim to save the vampire race. But something unexpected happened between them. And things get complicated when US government stepped into the battle and more secrets were being revealed.

I found the story very fascinating. It captivates my interest from beginning till the end. The pace is good. There are quite a number of supporting characters added in the story with clearly defined role and they never over shadow the two main characters. The intense emotion of the characters is well projected too. The plot is good. The twists and turns just made me can't stop turning the pages. I like the ending. I wonder is there any more upcoming books in this series.

I enjoy reading it very much. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Book Description:

Enemies... Lovers... Saviors?

The First Immortal Walks Again

Utanapishtim has paid dearly for the sin of creating the vampire race—imprisoned in a living death for  centuries, driven to near madness. With a single white-hot glance, he immolates his descendants…and the vampire Armageddon begins.

Beautiful and deadly Brigit Poe, not wholly vampire but fiercely loyal to that shared bloodline, is called into  action. She abhors yet cannot deny her destiny: to vanquish the once-great king of the immortals and save the vampire race.

Two warriors, equally matched in power and determination, are soon locked in an unwinnable battle, only to discover a passion so shocking it threatens every truth they’ve ever known—even as they must face one final battle that seems fated to end in death and heartbreak for them both.

In this series:

Book I: Twilight Prophecy
Book II:  Twilight Fulfilled

About the author:

“Tension packed,” “haunting,” “bewitching,” “tasty” and “better than chocolate” are just a few of the ways New York Times bestselling author Maggie Shayne and her award-winning novels have been described by critics and colleagues alike. Maggie is one of the hottest authors currently writing paranormal romance. Her works are fresh and sexy, carrying the reader into a darkly compelling and fully realized world where vampires are  creatures of the heart, not just the night.

Twilight Prophecy by Maggie Shayne

Title:         Twilight Prophecy
SubTitle:   Wings in the Night series
Publisher:  Harlequin
Imprint:     MIRA Books
Pub Date: 04/26/2011
ISBN:      9780778329800
Author:     Maggie Shayne

Book Description:

According to ancient prophecy, there's only one chance to avert the complete annihilation of the Undead. Twins James William and Brigit Poe, part human, part vampire, believe that they are that chance. In truth, the key lies with the reclusive—and mortal—scholar Lucy Lanfair.

As Armageddon approaches, antivampire sentiment fuels a war neither side can win, driving James to abandon his moral code and draw Lucy into a deadly battle she wants no part of.

But Lucy soon realizes that she holds this powerful immortal's soul in her hands and that it's her destiny not only to stop a war but to save him from his inner darkness. If she fails, his race will die—and so will her heart. Is the power of love strong enough to save the world?

I have not read other books in this series but I have no problem reading Twilight Prophecy as a stand alone story. The whole story is full of actions, drama and mystery, with lots of twists and turns to make me just want to keep on reading. It has some romance too between James and Lucy but I found the romance element is not very strong in the story. Lucy was not attracted to James at the beginning because he is an vampire. They were also have no time for romance as they kept on running since the beginning of the story. James was a vampire different from the rest as he had the ability to heal. While his twin sister, Brigit was a destroyer. It was their destiny to save their race. But Lucy was being dragged into their mission due to her ability to able to read the tablets from the Sumerian area. Those tablets were about the prophecy. The romance between James and Lucy get tension towards the end. The ending was a little unexpected but that's how it make it more exciting and get ready for the next book in the series.

I enjoy reading it very much. And I'm looking forward for her next book in this series. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Stealing Time

Title: Stealing Time
Publisher: Carina Press
Imprint: Carina Press
Pub Date: 01/31/2011
ISBN: 9781426891144

Evie Read is dying. She is very ill and doctor said nothing can be done already. On her way home, she met with an accident. James Wesley has saved Evie from the accident but she is badly injured. He is so moved by Evie's determination to live that he makes her immortal — a vampire, like him. Shocked by the change, but Evie eventually is glad that she is given a second chance at life. Evie and James fall in love with each other. Just when they begin to enjoy life together, their life is being threatened and they have to run away.

The first half of the book, focusing on the changes happened to Evie and how she copes with the new life as vampire. It is rather slow and a little long. Things become more excited and more actions, when they started running away from home, and facing other bad vampires, who wants to threaten the peace between humans and vampires. Just when things becoming more complicated, when Evie's human friend get involved, and I expected more actions, it ends abruptly. There is no mention whether there is any sequel to the book, but I feel the story is hanging there.

It is very normal for us, when there are things happen, we will always think what if I do it another way; what if it did not happen; bla bla bla; for Evie in this case, despite given second chance to live, but being a vampire is like a totally different life to Evie. She has to adapt to the rules in the vampire world. And f, which is total different rules from the human world. But first of all, she is not given a choice whether she would like to be a vampire or not. James made her a vampire based on her will - I do not want to die. So do we really have a choice in our life?

I rate this 2 out of 5 stars.
